Givenchy Rouge Interdit Shine in Candide Nude (No. 27)

This is one of the gifts I received this Valentine's. A beautiful lipstick by Givenchy. I love their packaging. The outer casing has very fine silver shimmer suspended in it, that's hard to pick up with a camera.
You simply pull on the little tag to slip the lipstick out. Beautiful silver tube, embossed with Givenchy logo.
and here is the swatch. I love nudes, neutrals, light peaches, light pinks... and this one fits right in. Lovely, silky smooth formula. Glides on with a touch of sheen... yup I'm becoming a lip product addict.

Benefit Cosmetics

This was a 500 point trade in at Sephora. I was always curious about CORALista and Bad Gal Mascara, but never quite enough to purchase. Well my wait paid off...
CORALista (love the name ) is a warm coral-pink powder. It comes with the brush pictured, that I don't think I'll be using. I don't like the quality of it or the shape. I rather use one of my own. The packaging is ok.. I'm not loving the cardboard box.... mehh...
swatch... very light in color... I think I can work it... might be a tad to shimmery... time will tell...

Dior: Diorskin Poudre Shimmer in Amber Diamond

Dior.... I see you... and I'm an unable to resist your vortex... This is a fave of so many beauty gurus, that I just couldn't pass it up. But this time I have no regrets. This product is pretty amazing. The perfect highlighter. I use it mainly on my inner eye corner and brow bone (this will last me a lifetime :))... on occasion on top of my cheeks and cupid's bow... The palette has five different shadows in it. From top to bottom: ivory, champagne, tan, bronze, peach. You may pick out a shade, or blend them all... whatever works. Because I like to blend them all, I do not mind that all the shades share the same pan.
Here is a little swatch of all five shades blended together... ain't it beautiful? It gives off a glow, not so much shimmer. No chunks of glitter in this product, I think anyone can pull it off.

Anastasia Beverly Hills: Illumin8 With Youthful Synergy™ Complex Eye Shadow Palette - No. 3

So Anastasia added eye shadow palettes to her brow collection. Currently there are five different ones available, all labeled 1 to 5. No individual names, for the palettes or for the shadows. But there is a very serious advertising angle...
When you lift the top lid, you are presented with some incredible research results... above the middle photo "Photos have not been retouched." Well then, this is an anti-aging wonder... Just look at all those stats and results...
The palette itself, is a pretty shiny little thing. Perfect mirror-like surface for fingerprints...
Pictured using flash... because I really wanted to pick up on the sparkle in the charcoal gray (first from the right). It's the reason I chose this palette... This is palette number 3, and it also includes a double sided application brush. One end for overall application and blending, and one end is tapered for lining. They are both quite nice, and I do utilize them...
swatches... you can barely see the first shade (winter makes me very pale). I find all the shades wearable and beautiful. The formula is velvety soft and blends easily.
I plan to use this palette at least once a week. It is recommended that the shadows are worn without primer, for optimal benefits. They actually hold up really well on my lids. Now I hope to have wrinkle free eyes for years, and years to come :)

Givenchy Blush Gelée Jelly Blush

I should stay away from Sephora... but I'm weak... sooo weak... especially when I spot a limited edition item. This is the coolest blush I own... love it. It's a part of Givenchy spring line... pictured below a tube of Candide Pink...
my first blush with a foam applicator... you press on it a few times while putting a bit of pressure on the tube to get the product to dispense...
on the applicator the shade appears bright magenta-pink (some of the intensity is lost in the picture), but nothing to fear, you won't have magenta cheeks... well unless you want to :)
intensity is buildable... and the color is gorgeous... simply gorgeous
A few observations:
1. This blush is completely matte. It does not have any shimmer or shine to it. Perfect for any skin type, but especially oily, because it won't melt off or make your skin appear oily.
2. It is a gel so it is a bit watery. Don't apply it over your foundation, as you will simply move it around and ruin your look. I apply this blush first, and depending on what coverage I choose, I build my intensity accordingly.
3. Blend with your fingertips. Blending with the applicator might result in a bit more product on your cheeks than wanted.

I love swatching products on the back of my hand when I'm browsing in Sephora. Everything: shadows, liners, lipsticks, glosses, foundation, blushes. At the end of my visit, the back of my left hand looks like a Jackson Pollock painting. Like every other visit, at the end I grab some tissues, soak them with makeup remover and clean my hand. I did this time as well. Everything came off except the blush.... wow staying power of this stuff is incredible.

MUFE Lab Shine Lip Gloss

So I was at the mall this past Saturday. Of course I could not be at the mall and not visit Sephora. As I was passing by the MUFE collection, my eye was drawn to the top shelf, and a little voice in my head said "ohhhh something new!" Make Up For Ever came out with a new range of lip glosses called Lab Shine. 35 shades split across three different categories:
1. Diamond collection consists of 12 shades that provide sheer coverage with a little bit of sparkle.
2. Star collection consists of 14 shades that are medium in coverage with a pearly shine.
3. Metal collection consists of 9 shades that provide full coverage with a chrome finish.

As I was swatching these on the back of my hand, a scent hit my nose, and it literally sent me back in time and space. To me personally, these glosses smell like a plum compote that my grandma and mom used to make each fall in Poland years back (like over 20 years ago). (We lived in a very small village, and preserved a lot of our own produce each season.). I find this scent incredible, and indescribable... it makes me dizzy with happiness...
But scents are individual... and I'm sure others won't feel the same love for it I do. But I sincerely hope MUFE never changes the formula or discontinues this product.
I will pick up more colors in the future, but that Saturday I settled for a tube form their Star Collection; shade number S24, a pearly coral gloss.
I love this shade. I love the way it smells. I love the way it tastes. I love the way it looks. It applies very smoothly and it's not sticky at all. According to MUFE  the formula contains camelina oil, mother-of-pearl particles, hyaluronic acid, and apricot fragrance. Because of hylauronic acid it is a nicely moisturizing gloss, and the apricot fragrance explains why I associate the smell with plums. My new favorite for sure :)

MAC Wonder Woman Lipglass in Athena's Kisses

The same day I picked up the red lipstick from this collection, I also swatched their lipglasses. Athena's Kisses a fuchsia shade, appealed to me a lot. The color as well as the super-sized packaging... it's a Wonder Woman Collection after all...
just look at that applicator... lol... it's humongous... this is an Angelina Jolie lip sized wand... my normal sized lips are almost overwhelmed by it. I have to be really careful to not paint outside the line... hahaha. (in the picture below compared to a Clinique gloss applicator I own)
swatches... same shade... different lighting situations...
I like it... I like it a lot...

MAC Wonder Woman Collection Lipstick in Russian Red

it went something like this...

Jay: Have you seen the Wonder Woman lipstick at MAC?
Me: Yes.. I've been browsing the collection online for a while now.
Jay: Yeah... but did you know it's available in stores now?
Me: ummm no....
Jay: Yeah it is. I think you should get yourself a Wonder Woman lipstick.
Me: What?
Jay: I think you need one.
Me: Well I kind of like the peach shade.
Jay: Wonder Woman does not wear peach.
Me: What?
Jay: She wears red... like really red lipstick. I think you should get the red one...
Me: Ok.....
Jay: Do you need money?
Me: ummmmm ok....
Jay: So you going to get the red one right?
Me: Yes...
Jay: Every woman needs a Wonder Woman lipstick... and Wonder Woman wears red....
Me: Red... right....

OMG!... is there an outfit in the future to match this shade????!!!

Well anyways here it it. I like the packaging a lot.  A bullet shaped lipstick tube, in a red MAC box which is blue with white stars on the inside, and a Wonder Woman sleeve encompassing it all.
I like the red star on the side a lot... just an extra little touch. Some may find this packaging tacky, but I'm not one of them....
a couple of swatches.... It's called Russian Red... I'm not sure when I'll wear it out. A shade like that, requires a look all on its own....
wow it is really red... excuse the uneven application swatch... A red matte of this caliber actually requires some application skill and patience, that I realized I don't possess. I bet Wonder Woman did though.... :)

NARS Blush in Orgasm

I got swayed by the NARS cult favorite fever a few years back and purchased their blush in Orgasm. This was about 6 years ago.
Orgasm is a peachy-pink shade with shimmer. I've had it for over 6 years now, as  you can see I've used it, but I yet have to hit pan. That's says it all I think. This might be a cult favorite, but it's not mine.
It's a pretty shade. But personally I find it too shiny, too shimmery. I don't know I just can't seem to get it to work for me.  I think a lot of it has to do with my skin type. I feel this blush just magnifies every single imperfection.
However this is a cult favorite. So many people can't be all wrong. But there always is an exception... and I am one for this blush. I can't bring myself to get rid of it, I don't remember what it cost me so many years ago, but currently it retails for $27 USD on Sephora website. I'm going to start to layer it a bit, Orgasm first, and then something matte on top... also it does make an interesting eye shadow, I like it... Maybe I'll used it up in the next 6 years...

Lush Bubblegum Lip Scrub

This was an impulse purchase at the Lush store while I was checking out. I can usually resist items next to the cash register, I know their purpose. But my, when I smelled it I couldn't pass it up, and the pink color just tipped the scales. This little jar retails for $8.95 CAD. I've seen videos online of people making their own scrubs at a fraction of the price, but I'm not regretting my purchase.
The scent in the jar doesn't compare to the incredible olfactory heaven you experience while actually using this on your lips. I just want to eat it. It works great too... leaving my lips silky smooth, moisturized, and ready for some Chanel lipstick :)
This is a totally vegan product, which makes me so happy. Lush carries a few flavors, next time it's time to restock I'll definitely be picking up another lip scrub. Love this.

CHANEL Rouge Coco Lipstick in Jersey Rose

If you check in with this blog on a somewhat regular basis, you know spring is on my mind. I just want to retire my winter coat to the back of my closet. And now that all the spring makeup lines are all out, I just can't resist browsing and coveting some of the items. Seeing swatches of Chanel's Jersey Rose lipstick online, convinced me I need one. The color is a pretty shade of peachy pink with some very fine shimmer in it... so spring. At the Chanel counter I asked for their "Jersey Shore" lipstick... duhhhh... couldn't stop laughing about it... the SA knew what I was asking for, and supposedly I wasn't the first person who asked for "Jersey Shore".... hahahaha
Well Chanel sure makes a quality product, and for a lipstick that retails a bit over $40 CAD (with taxes) I'd expect nothing less. The formula is wonderful, smooth, hydrating, and it smells lovely as well.
Oh my.... I think I'm starting to get lipstick fever... I'm so glad I purchased this shade. Beautiful... the price is the only thing that keeps me from acquiring more at this time...

Clinique Make Up Brush Cleanser

Everyone has their favorite one and this is mine. I deep clean my foundation brush every single day and the rest once every week, or every couple of weeks. It depends on how often I used them. But every single day I quick clean every single brush I used with Clinique make up brush cleanser. For small brushes, I spritz my paper towel and wipe the brushes back and forth to get the residual product off. For large brushes, I spritz the brush and wipe it back and forth on a paper towel until it comes clean.  I have nothing but love for this product, it cleans and conditions my brushes very well, it kills germs, but it isn't harsh on the bristles. It retails for $16.50 CAD in Shoppers Drug Mart and $13 USD on Sephora website (but is currently out of stock). I always have a back up of it... running out is not an option :)

Shiseido Facial Cotton Wipes

One day a couple of years ago I went to the drug store to pick up some facial cotton wipes. I don't know why I decided to pick up a Shiseido pack. It retails for $8 CAD, way more than any other brand carried by my drug store. But wow is it worth the extra money. I haven't strayed since... these are the most incredible wipes ever. So soft, so simply incredible.  I store mine in a recycled candle jar.  This is one purchase I make over and over again with no regrets. And every time I meet someone who uses Shiseido facial wipes, they are as much in love with them as I am.

I take back my "Jay and I don't celebrate Valentine's Day." I don't, he does. But no roses or chocolates for me.  He knows the way to my heart is straight through the beauty counter :), and he has good taste. I present sweet Valentines gifts that melt my heart....
Stila Make Me Blush blush, Givenchy lipstick in Candide Nude 27, and NARS nail polish in Orgasm.
I marked the lipstick in a beauty mag to investigate on a future visit to Sephora. The nail polish and blush are his choices. Love it all, but love him more. I'm starting to come around to the whole Valentine's Day idea. If you celebrate it, I hope it was wonderful...

Swatches and reviews of the above, coming in not so distant future.

Revlon ColorBurst™ Lipstick

So I was in a drug store a few days back picking up some essentials. Like any other time, I navigated the beauty aisles slowly. I usually leave empty handed, drugstore brands don't hold much appeal for me. I'm a brand snob. But this time, Revlon caught my eye. Specifically their ColorBurst™ Lipstick in Blush 035.
The packaging is just so nice (the crosshatch pattern very reminiscent of Burberry...hmmm), and the swatch on the back of my hand looked so lovely, I couldn't pass it up. At $11.99 CAD, I decided to acquire it.
Description form the Revlon website describing this lipstick as "Luxurious, rich color that feels virtually weightless." It does feel wonderful on, applies very smoothly, has no taste or smell. Really a quality product.
I love the shade. Blush is a lovely neutral with a light sheen to it.  It will live in my purse, because I see myself reaching for it a lot. It's a color you just can't go wrong with.
At home, while having a bath I was flipping through March 2011 issue of Fashion magazine, and there on the very last page was a quick interview with Gucci Westman, a makeup artist and Revlon global artistic director. She created a couple of limited edition items for Revlon. The last question was:
What do you hope to achieve when you create products?
I want Revlon to be the most affordable prestigious brand in the mass market.  The recession made everyone a little bit more pensive about where their money goes, so I really want to seize that moment and make Revlon the brand that it used to be but modern and cool.  I want to be a real, credible face behind it, being a mom of two and a wife.  It's all about efficiency.  I want to be efficient but chic. It's all I want to do.
Hmmmm... if this lipstick is anything to go by... she might be on her way...

Clinique Pair of Shades Eye Shadow in Spring Wedding

Spring is on my mind, and so are different shades of green. So when I saw this Clinique duo I was intrigued, when I read the name I was in love. It's an olive neutral kind of green... and since so far I've been enjoying my Clinique purchases I added this duo to my collection.
I  wasn't disappointed by quality or wear of product. Does anyone make a bad shadow anymore? :)  Lovely wash of color, not heavily pigmented... great for everyday office look. Here come the swatches:
The dark shade, has great depth to it. I don't know I just love it... Green isn't for everyone, and not everyone loves it... but I am sweet on this duo.
I should mention it retails for $24 CAD, that's the only iffy thing about it... seems kind of pricey... I'm not purchasing anymore duos at this time from Clinique... but I'm enjoying what I already own.

Shiseido Eye Shadow Quad in Rose Tones Q11

This pretty Shiseido quad was a gift from my sister last Christmas (2009). Jay and I don't celebrate Valentine's Day, but when I rummaged in my collection, I decided to wear it just for the heck of it. This is their Q11 palette in Rose Tones.
Correction: I apologize.  This wasn't a gift from my sister but from my father. We pick names for the Holidays, and become Santa to only one person. I got my years mixed up :)
Perfect V-day shades, and also great for spring. I'm getting tired of sub-zero temperatures and freezing winds. I'm starting to wear light bright colors to brighten up my days.
Shiseido makes great colors. I really enjoy wearing and playing with this quad. The shades are kind of soft in texture, I learned very quickly to go easy with my brush.  Otherwise I might end up looking clownish with a lot of fall out. Swatches below... lovely.

Lancôme Color Design Eye Shadow

I know there are those out there who do not like multi eye shadow palettes, and will not purchase one unless they truly love each and every shade in it.  They prefer individual shades that they can mix and match on their own. But personally I really like and prefer multi color eye shadow palettes to singles, simply because I feel the job of color coordinating has been done for me and I cannot go wrong if I stick with the shades in it. Artistic I am not... multi shade palettes are fool-proof... make up design for beginners :)

These two palettes were a part of gift with purchase from Lancôme, on two separate occasions. I love them, seven great shades in each one; and Lancôme has awesome eye shadow quality: in wear, pigmentation, blendability, and color range.
Palette number 1: great for an evening, dark or smokey look. Haven't perfected it yet... but working on it.
Pictured from left to right:
Style Section - metallic
Optic - sheen
Garment - intense
The New Black - metallic

Palette number 2: a day friendly color range, soft, neutral, lovely

Kitten Heel - shimmer

Honeymoon - sheen
Montage - shimmer
Pictured from left to right:

Individually each shade retails for $22 CAD, there is no way that I would be able to spend that much money to acquire each one without a heart ache.  I almost feel, that there is no point in buying another palette or shade ever again. All I have to do is wait for Lancôme to have another gift with purchase where they include one.... almost... It is impossible for me to be that faithful to one brand.
