Lancôme Coral Chic Blush Subtil Duo

This was a part of the 'haul'. A lovely oil-free powder blush and cream highlighter.
I adore the blush color, simply adore. The highlighter is a bit harder for me to work with, I think it would highlight darker skin tones better...

Bliss Blood Orange + White Pepper Sugar Scrub

I had to purchase another body scrub because Sephora hadn't had Philosophy one in weeks... I used up my back up and needed something. An SA at Sephora suggested I try something from Bliss, she said "their scrubs are comparable". I chose Blood Orange + White Pepper...
When you first peel off the protective lid, the smell of oranges is sooo delicious. I like the consistency of the scrub as well, nice and thick. Recommended for use on damp skin so that it lathers up, but I prefer to use it on dry, when I first step into the shower, then once I dry exfoliated I turn on the shower wet my hands and continue; rinse once done exfoliating. This leaves my skin divinely silky smooth... A worthy stand in for my Philosophy... The only reason I'll switch back is because Philosophy gives me more product for my buck... but I might repurchase Bliss on occasion... This was a great recommendation...

CHANEL Ombres Tissées Iridescent Effects Eyes in Beiges and Chanel Essentielle Soft Touch Eyeshadow in Gris Exquis

I did not purchase the following items. I did not even know I wanted them. Seems Jay knows my greedy Chanel heart better than I know it myself. He bought me Ombres Tissées Iridescent Effects Eyes in Beiges...
and Ombre Essentielle single eye shadow in Gris Exquis...
I love a great gray shadow....

He bought Ombres Tissées because when he passed it he thought he was looking at Swarovski crystals, when I first opened it I thought the same thing. Trust me the camera does not do the sparkle-shine-shimmer in this palette any justice. I took several pictures to try and convey a tad of it...

But other than the sparkle factor, the Iridescent Effects Eye palette is huge, 13g of product compared to 2g of single eye shadow. This is a beautiful highlighter that does not have to be limited to your eyes only...
Picture below taken without flash under my bathroom lights to try and capture the sparkle...
the pallete contains three shades: top champagne, middle light tan, bottom pink...
picture below taken with flash... the quilted texture of this palette is so gorgeous... I almost did not want to swatch it or wear it.... almost...
three shades swatched individually... from left to right: champagne, tan, pink

the three shades are very, very similar... basically indistinguishable in my pictures...

Dior Brow Styler (001 Universal Brown)

Henna dyes my hair a very dark brown. My previous brow powders are way too light. Instead of finding a brown pencil to match my current shade, I decided to try a Dior pencil that claims to work well with all shades.

Use a light touch if you're a blonde, and be a bit more heavy handed if your tresses are dark. Twist the bottom for the stylus to appear then with short quick strokes fill in and shade in your brows.

I like this pencil a lot. It could have been a bit darker but I'm not disappointed. Depending on how long it lasts me, this could be a future repurchase.

Exuberance Helichrysum Silicone-Free Makeup Primer

I'm giving up on finding the "IT" primer. I don't think it exits. My final test was a venture into natural and organic territory.

I've found some very promising reviews for this product and so there I am one morning smoothing it over my face. Supposedly it's suitable for all skin types... yes I suppose I agree. It hasn't caused any adverse reaction, and the idea of natural plant based ingredients is definitely more appealing than silicone.

This is a clear gel with a strong flowery organic scent... possible turn off for some. I find it doesn't linger for long, and the primer does apply easily. It feels more like a serum than a primer. It quickly absorbs and doesn't feel sticky or tacky. But my foundation also doesn't stay on much longer, and my t-zone shines in a couple of hours.

Out of all primers I own, this is the top of the list simply for its ingredient list, but it's still not the hg I was hopping for. I don't think it's the primer tough I think it's my incompatible face...

My first pair of Christian Dior Shoes

Acquired July 10, 2011. I couldn't, simply couldn't pass these up. They fit perfectly, and I mean perfectly. Shoes are such a limited edition item as well, they're here for the season and then gone forever (well except for a few chosen classics).
Plus they were 65% OFF!!!, last pair, and I had two females stalking me hoping I'd put them down… you know sometimes you don't even want the item, but knowing someone else does, tips the scales and you purchase. Well not in this case… cork wedges are my favorite summer shoe… these were coming home with me. I was meant to own these :)
I haven't worn them out yet… I wasn't ready to get street dust on my beauties…Their first trip out will be this coming Saturday... unless it's raining.

Mario Badescu Silver Powder

MB Blurb: "For excessive, stubborn blackheads, this oil absorbent powder will help to unclog congested pores. Prevents blackheads and promotes a healthier complexion. You will see a remarkable difference after one application.

How to Use: Once or twice a week dip a water dampened cotton ball into the powder and press on nose, chin and congested areas on the face. Wait 10 minutes and wipe off with toner or astringent."

Ummmm it does work, but I wasn't wowed after the first application. Pore congestion is slightly lessened, but my pores are still there, they haven't been shrunk... I truly don't believe that's possible. Instructions are accurate, dip a cotton ball in water, pick up a tad and apply to face. After 10 minutes remove with toner, because somehow this powder is really hard to get off. After toner I tend to wash my face with my face wash and tone it again. Possibly an overkill, but I feel like this product leaves a film on my face.

The amount of powder is very generous, and will last for a very long while... but I don't know if it will be repurchased.

Oribe 24K Gold Pomade

"Sleek back you hair with super-rich gold highlights for instant lustrous glamour. Excellent for use on pleasure craft, in convertibles or anywhere a little 24-karat seduction is needed. Smooth onto wet or dry hair and style sexily. Add string bikini and dark glasses. Warning: Might shine your clothes, too. Undress with care. Shampoo thoroughly (maybe even twice)."

The description alone was irresistible... while I don't see myself putting on a string bikini... I love smoothing this into my hair. I'm not heavy handed with it, because this does stick to your fingers and anything else it touches... but it also imparts the best 24-karat sparkle to your locks. I'm a dark brunette... this looks awesome!!!!

The packaging, divine....
 the product...

other than the glitter/shimmer this also has a bit of hold...and I find it shampoos out quite easily...
hmmmm looking at this picture, I'm wondering how this would work on my eyelids....
this jar of gold is a total indulgence, not exactly something to put in your hair everyday, but I do love to play with it on the weekends... now for that pleasure craft...

CHANEL Mat Lumière Liquid Foundation

Purchased before I discovered Vichy….. Just one of those cult followings that I got curious about and had to try out for myself.

This is the best smelling foundation I own. I need this as a body lotion :). The scent is soft, delicate, barely there, and just simply divine.

Coverage light to medium. I used brushes and fingers to apply it. Either way worked fine for me. The coverage not substantial enough, but the foundation does apply easily and blends in smoothly. It looks lovely on, my skin takes on this polished, softened look. But it doesn't last… and so I like it not love it.

I get about 3-4 hours of wear before it starts looking a bit off. I wonder if investing in Chanel setting powder would help extend the wear of this, because right now it just doesn't gel well with my face.

Hourglass Aura Sheer Lip Stain

So about three weeks ago I went to Sephora for a couple of essentials. Once I had them in my basket I had to do a round of browsing.  At the Hourglass display I noticed a "new" sign and three interesting looking pen style lip products. I swatched them on the back of my hand... then went for kleenex to wipe them off.. and omg!... they totally stained my skin. The darkest, Scarlet (plum shade) most prominent, then Flush (described as berry pink, but to me red), then Petal (peachy pink) the lightest shade. Pictured below a couple of hours after the fact.
So I needed the have one. This is perfect... a colored lip that won't wear off after a drink. I chose Flush, because it wasn't too light or too dark, just right :)
Once you take off the cap, you can see the band of color that is the product. The felt tip top looks so pretty before the first use...
It is also quite sizable and heavy for it's size... I like...
 no going back now...
daylight
flash
It's a stain and I really love how it ads a bit more punch of color and definition to my lips. It has no shine on it's own (as pictured below). I use just a tad, because it is heavily pigmented and I can't pull off a bright red lip for everyday wear, but a light swatch of the stain followed by some gloss is a match made in lip heaven for me :)
Hourglass lip stain pens retail for $33.00 CAD... pricey... but I'm happy with my purchase...

CHANEL Topkapi Quadra Eye Shadow

Blushes weren't the only items from the Byzantine collection I acquired... I also couldn't resist the call of the Topkapi pallete...

Sally Hansen Salon Effects - Real Nail Polish Strips

I finally found them, and now I know what all the hype is about. These do now even compare to Nicole by OPI version. The quality and effect is much more superior.

I have no idea how they managed to formulate actual nail polish into strips, but for someone who has absolutely no patience or skill for nail design, these are a very fun alternative.

Each package comes with 16 strips, nail file, and instructions. Easy to follow, but give yourself time. For best results don't be pressed for time. Applying these evenly is the key.
I chose "Raise a Glass" since we were attending a wedding, and I wanted something that would complement my outfit. This light champagne foil color seemed to fit the bill.
daylight

Application was much easier and cleaner than with regular polish. No dry time is a big plus as well. Sally claims this mani will last up to 10 days, I got 3 but that is totally due to the bad shape my nails are in. Once you got all the wear you will, take off with nail polish remover.

Overall I enjoyed a quick, convenient mani. This one time use package cost me around $10.00 CAD, a bit pricey for something you only get to use once. I do prefer my bottles of color more, however for an occasional break from solid shades and a bit of fun these are great.

Vichy NormaDerm Teint Anit-Imperfection Foundation

I've become consumed with Vichy foundation. Decided to also give NormaDerm Teint a try since it's specifically formulated for problematic skin types. Comes in 5 shades, and retails for $27.95 CAD.

Claims:
- 8 hour hold
- covers without clogging pores
- non-comeogenic
- hypoallergenic
- non-drying
- non-greasy texture

This is my favorite foundation to date. This one has moved to the top of my foundation list.  It is also the cheapest one I own ($27.95 CAD for the tube pictured), and I wasn't going to buy it because I already had two others in my basket… this is a one instance example where I'm glad I have a cosmetic shopping problem…

The fact that this foundation is formulated specifically for women aged 20-35 who have problem skin is icing on my foundation cake. It contains zincadone atm to help combat and prevent future imperfections. Like that fact a lot…

It has a bit of a cosmetic scent to it, which I don't mind at all (but the sensitive noses out there might). It is also a bit on the runny side, and the fact that the shade range consists of only 5 choices might prove to be a challenge for some as well. However I moisturize and prime my face then with my awesome Sigma F80 I buff this in and the effect is seamless. It won't totally cover anything drastic on your face, this is more of a light to medium coverage foundation (I use my Vichy Dermablend on the areas this little buddy can't handle). But it looks so lovely on, soft and velvety, and this is the only foundation that won't start to split and separate on my face after 6 hours of wear. This is the one where I can't tell I'm wearing foundation, foundation. Even at the end of the day I'm not itching to get it off my face, it never starts to feel heavy or grimy, it simply works for me.

Ahhhh I wish I found it sooner. This is my current HG.

Now, if only I could find something to keep my shiny t-zone under control :)

CHANEL Powder Blush in Rouge and Or

So there are no Lumieres Byzantine Palettes available in Toronto... well if there were even I sort of draw a line at $250.00 (I think)... but the rest of the Byzantine make-up collection was available. I resisted... the first time I saw it at Holt's under it's own glass display I was instantly seduced by the Rouge blush, but I didn't buy. Fast forward a couple of weeks later when I think I'm immune to its charms (and hoping it sold out as well) and venture in for a little gift for a friend... 10 minutes later walk out with this (plus the gift of course)...
smitten by the double c lids... but not by the brushes...
 gorgeous!!!
I wanted to be strong and only buy Rouge... but Or is just so unique and they seem to complement each other so well  (top: daylight, bottom: flash)
Rouge is a true red blush with a bit of fine gold shimmer in it. I don't own a red blush (well I didn't, now I do :)) Picture taken using flash is a more accurate color depiction. Or as the name states is gold and it ads another dimension to Rouge when layered...

This is the perfect Sleeping Beauty blush, well that is who I think of when I look at this. Very easy to go overboard, Rouge is deeply and richly pigmented... but if you take care, perfect flush.  This will be the one I'll be reaching for a lot this coming winter. Right now while the weather is hot... I'm favoring pinks and corals...

And speaking of Chanel, a month or so ago, Jay and I went up to the Chanel clothing and accessories section at Holts. I touched a $5,000.00 Chanel coat, a $3,000.00 Chanel purse, and held a $500.00 pair of Chanel mittens... it was nice...
