Metamorphosis by Tracy - Abcentric - Day 31 to 40

So I did not write anything down during this 10 day period. I don't remember why not. But I do remember that the cardio routine was becoming easier, and my 3lb weights did not feel as heavy as they did on the first day.

By the way the sales associate at the fitness store I bought these at made fun of me for buying 3lb weights. I don't understand why it was so funny.  But I do know that I will not shop there again.

Any kind of fitness is good fitness... I am not ashamed of working out with these :)

Metamorphosis by Tracy - Abcentric - Day 21 to 30

I feel I could do an hour of cardio; but I'm not motivated enough to wake up at 4:30am (not yet anyways, maybe when my 6-pack comes in, hahahahaha).

Arms and abs take a few days for me to finally get it, but I am picking-up her style faster.

Tracy messes up the leg sequence. Maybe they just didn't give a hoot when editing. Instructions on the right side are straight forward, but when she switches to the left the exercises and their order is not the same. Since I don't need to look at her to repeat on the left what I did on the right, I didn't really notice until day 3. Maybe she was tired, couldn't keep the sequence straight in her own head.

Metamorphosis by Tracy - Abcentric - Day 11 to 20

Ok, I'm getting better at cardio. But I can't take another day of Tracy's music, and I definitely will not last if I have to listen to it for another 80 days. A lot of people don't like her choice of sound for the cardio; and since you sort of follow her to the best of your abilities, you don't need to. Put your own music on. I work out at 5am, so instead of blasting the stereo, I put a pair of headphones on and blast my iPhone fitness playlist. I found her routine became much easier for me, when I had a beat I loved.

Strangely I don't mind her music during the toning sequence. I think it fits better. I'm so jealous how easy she makes it all look. You can tell Tracy is a dancer, there is a certain fluidity and ease to her moves that I try to imitate and don't even come close :) Weirdly not discouraged.

Metamorphosis by Tracy - Abcentric - Day 1 to 10

Omg what is this !? How am I supposed to follow!
Let me tell you first days of this cardio were almost enough for me to call it quits. I am no dancer, I have no rhythm; and this is "dance" cardio. I put "dance" because I don't think anyone actually does that many jumping jacks in the club.  I'm trying not to become discouraged. Tracy suggest if I can't follow then do my own thing, but then she contradicts herself by informing me that all the moves are chosen specifically for their effectiveness.  I literally bounce from one end of my living room to another. Will I ever get this?

Toning. Wow, arms and abs are just like cardio; no real instruction, I follow the best I can. When did 3 lbs become so heavy? Standing ab sequence??? What?! My body moves as a whole, hips and abs refuse to go in opposite directions... a challenge for sure. Legs is tough but easiest to follow. Tracy explains all the moves on the right side. Then informs you when it's time to switch to the left. Moves are the same (you're just working out your opposite (in this case left) side), so instructions are not repeated. It just you and the music.

Speaking of which. Tracy does not stop, she works out throughout both videos (when she says 40 reps, she also does 40 reps). It's only her. There is no other participants on whom she has to check, encourage, or correct. She does not speak directly to the camera, when her voice does come on, it's a voiceover.  I like that a lot. She also doesn't look like she's about to drop... her fitness level motivates me.

Metamorphosis by Tracy - my experience

Ahhh fitness... like many out there, I want the lean, fit physique, I just wish it wasn't so much damn work. I feel great after a workout, but the motivation to actually get my ass to do it was often too strong for me to overcome. One thing I know, gyms don't work for me. I've had memberships, I don't thrive in that atmosphere. I prefer to workout at home, where I can be as sweaty, and smelly as I want to... and the only one there to judge me is the cat (and she has gotten bored with it, preferring instead to claim the warm spot on my pillow when I get up for my morning routine, instead of watching me pant in the livingroom). Communal showers are not my thing either, I like my own, where everything that I need or want is within my reach.

So I've tried a couple at home routines; namely P90X and Insanity… I failed at both.

P90X is too macho for me. I realized that I hate lifting weights (especially if that weight is my whole body :)) I found myself discouraged. I attempted the 90 day sequence twice, I made it to day 45 once. It’s not for me.

Insanity is just too insane. Those people are so fit, and they struggle, like seriously struggle… how is my soft dumpling body supposed to survive through something they are having hard time with. Their pain does not motivate me, it scares me. As well during the warm up, I would get insane pain between the ball and heel of my foot. I felt as if there was a string connecting the two that someone was winding tighter and tighter. Some days the pain was unbearable. I finished the 90 day challenge, but I did not enjoy it… and I do not wish to do it again.

Then somehow I stumbled upon an article interview with Gwyneth Paltrow. Now that woman is not my role model per say, but damn her body is. She shared that her fantastic physique is all thanks to Tracy Anderson. More Googling, more reading, and I was on Gwyneth's fitness band wagon.  I chose Tracy's Metamorphosis as the fitness routine I would give a go.

There are different versions and you choose the one that fits your body type:

Abcentric - if you find yourself gaining weight first in your belly

Hipcentric - if you find your extra weight wrapping itself around your hips

Glucentric - I don't know... if my weight was going to my booty, I'd probably keep it there :)

Omnicentric - if you gain weight pretty much evenly all over your body (there is no obvious area of concentration), or you're not sure of your group

While the exercises in each system, are meant to help with your "problem" area, you still workout and tone your whole body. I do not know how the systems compare/differ from each other, I'm abcentric... like no guess work involved, and that's what I ordered.

This is a 90 day program as well, workout for 6 days straight and rest on the 7th. It includes 30 min dance cardio and 30 min toning. The dance cardio remains the same for the whole 90 day period, the toning changes up every 10 days.

I initially purchased the system in March of 2014. The first time I actually put the dvd in was June 2014. Procrastinator = moi. Abandoned it in 8 days. Gave it a second serious attempt in August of 2014. Completed the 90 day program in 145 days :) I started out doing this only 2-4 times a week , then I hit my grove and started to press play 4-5 days a week.

There is a diet plan included with this program for faster, "better" results. I did not even bother to look at it. I cannot, cannot diet. It has to be something I want to do. Anytime I restrict myself or tell myself I'm on a "diet" I fail... usually within 8 hours. Plus I feel I eat healthy and well balanced meals already... most of the time.

So in the coming days I will post my experience for each segment of the program (I sort of kept a journal throughout). Putting it all into one post would feel a bit much. This intro is a bit much in itself. Hope you enjoy.

Urban Decay Makeup Setting Spray: All Nighter vs De-Slick

I've passed these by countless times at Sephora, sometimes I would pause and contemplate but I've always talked myself out of the purchase.

This year I finally gave in. I didn't want a full-sized version since I didn't know which one would work best for me. Luckily my Sephora had both of these travel ones in stock. So I bought both to compare.

I tend to be oily-combo. My gut told me De-Slick is probably it, but I couldn't pass up an opportunity to find out how All-Nighter compares.
I am not sure why there are two caps. Seems a bit excessive.

As you know these are meant to make your makeup last longer. So you spray this as a final step in your routine. I found the mist to be fine, the distribution even, and the scent light and bearable. It also dries down really quickly.
This might be a vegan product (feel good), but I won't be repurchasing. Because I can't tell the difference, between the two or without. I've been playing with these for over a month. With or without my face produces the same amount of oil.

I am starting to worry that it's actually beginning to produce more, as I feel that the skin on my face is becoming drier in the last couple of weeks. These are the only new additions to my routine... sooo....

Also since I couldn't tell the difference between All-Nighter and De-Slick I navigated to Urban Decay site for an ingredient list; and here is what I learned.

All-Nighter De-Slick
Water (Aqua) Water (Aqua)
Alcohol Denat Alcohol Denat
Polyhydroxystearic Acid Polyhydroxystearic Acid
Methyl Perfluorobutyl Ether Methyl Perfluorobutyl Ether
Methyl Perfluoroisobutyl Ether Methyl Perflouroisobutyl Ether

PPG-3 Benzyl Ether Myristate PPG-3 Benzyl Ether Myristate
Caprylyl Glycol Caprylyl Gylcol
Methyl Methacrylate Cross polymer Menthyl Methacrylate Cross Polymer
Poloxamer 407 Poloxamer 407
Sodium Hydroxide Sodium Hydroxide
Sodium Cocamidopropyl PG-Dimonium Chloride Phosphate Sodium Cocamidopropyl PG Dimonium Chloride Phosphate
Glycereth-5 Lactate Glycereth-5 Lactate
N,2,3- Trimethyl-2-Isopropryl Butamide N,2,3-Trimethyl-2-Isopropyl Butamide
Ethylhexyl Isononanoate Ethylhexyl Isononanoate
Isononyl Isononanoate Isononyl Isononanoate
Fragrance Fragrance
Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Extract Aloe Barbandensis Leaf Extract

Well according to UD the only difference between the two is the name and color of the text and cap. Hmmm clever marketing????

Glad to have found that out. Plus all these chemical words are making me feel plastic... my face and I take a pass on this product.

NARS Lip Gloss in Chihuahua

A random surprise purchase by my husband.

I've been eyeing this gloss for a very long time... at first, for the name alone... but then I realized that I love the shade as well; because this is the ideal "my lips but better" color.
Pretty NARS packaging with doe foot applicator. Works for me.
Below a couple of swatches of this gorgeous rosy nude. No shimmer and no glitter in this formula. It's just perfectly creamy and glossy.
On the lips this feels comfortable: weightless and non-sticky (although I don't mind a gloss with a bit of cling to it). Most importantly it has no scent (not to my nose anyways).
Love this little treat. 2015 is turning out to be the year of the lip for me :)

On Sunday we Wear Sunday :) - Ardency Inn

I became interested in Ardency Inn shadows once I learned that they contain Manuka honey, although after giving it some thought, I don't believe it will have any significant benefit on my eyelids.

Out of all the available shades Sunday called my name, because I like the idea of wearing Sunday on Sunday :), and it's also a shade I saw myself easily reaching for.
After my first swatch at Sephora I knew I was going to love it. The formula is highly pigmented and although this is a powder, the texture is practically creamy... dare I use the word "buttery" :)
The color is described as "universal beige pearl with gold & pink undertones", and it is beautiful. It lasts all day without creasing, smudging, or fading.  Maybe Manuka honey makes a difference after all :)
Set my eye on Rose Gold and Hell next :)

Fresh Rose Floral Toner

I wanted something kind and gentle for my morning routine. Scouring available options on Sephora led me to try this. As I'm writing this post, I'm halfway through the bottle and I'm loving it.

The pump comes separately, so that you can either use this by soaking a cotton pad or mist your face directly. Since this is so gentle (and alcohol free) I opted for the latter; and each morning after I've washed and dried my face I liberally spray this all over... and it feels gooood.

Have you ever tried a Turkish Delight, the candy? This is the scent... sweet and rosy and calorie free. It feels light and refreshing... and yes moisturizing.  My winter skin loves this, and my mornings are that much brighter and sunnier because of it :)

If you're a rose lover who loves/needs gentle skin care, this might be for you.

NARS NARSissist Dual Intensity Eyeshadow Palette

The one spring release item I needed to have... or rather I really really wanted to have... my life would go on just fine without it but there would be a little bit of longing on my part if I let this pass me by :)

I own one other NARS dual-intensity shadow called Callisto (looove it)... which luckily is not a part of this palette. I love Callisto so much that I wanted more of these shadows, but price point kept me at bay... glad that it did. Because this set while pricy, is definitely more practical, and satisfies my dual-intensity want.
Packaging is beautiful and not practical. I love the mirrored lid, and know that like my cat its world is contained to the square footage of our condo.
Inside another mirror, eight gorgeous shades, and a solid quality brush.
I would categorize top row as warm and bottom as cool... the best of both worlds.
Now, these shades can be worn wet or dry. My swatches below are all dry, because that's how I prefer to wear these. I'm thinking of wetting a brush and using them wet to line my eyes, but I haven't yet... and I'm not sure when I will. So just imagine these amped up, or search and Google shall answer :)
I have to say, and I'm sure I'm not the only one who owns this... that the top row will get more use than bottom... my nightlife is nonexistent; and I don't see these as very day-wear friendly. Although... now that we're slowly thawing out and days are getting longer, maybe I'll also stay up past 9:30 :)

Video: Beauty Empties - Jan 2015

Really late on filming and sharing this one... not exactly a smooth start to 2015... but here it is...
