Charlotte Tilbury Luxury Palette - The Rebel

Charlotte Tilbury finally made it to Canada :) You can lighten your wallet at Holt Renfrew on Bloor in Toronto if you so desire. I went, looked, and swatched, but it's my husband who bought me my first Tilbury treat.
The treat being an eyeshadow quad. On the back of the packaging Charlotte provides an application guide... to follow or not to follow is your choice. I do not :)
I can only describe the packaging as chic...
The palette is called The Rebel but I am not, so I will not be wearing the shadows as modeled in the ad even if Charlotte claims to have “decoded the secret to mesmerizing eyes”.  Although if I looked like the model, or had more than just basic makeup skills, I might have been tempted to try the look.
That is not to say I do not love the colours, because I do. The champagne obviously is my favourite, easy to wear any day; and I alternate between the greens, usually to line my eyes, sometimes to lightly shade the outer corner.
I love the look of the sparkly one, but it's also the hardest to work with. It feels a bit chunky (it's the glitter), and has a bit of fallout. Still I find a magnetic pull between it and my brush.
Below a couple of swatches... first in direct sunlight, and second in natural light...
The palette is beautiful... a luxurious treat if you can justify it :)

Ole Henriksen Oil-Free Pore Refining Cleansing Cloths

I've tried Ole's "truth to go" wipes (orange packaging) and liked them a lot; mostly for the scent (orange creamsicle). When they released new types, I decided to splurge on a package of "oil-free pore refining" ones for the summer months.

One of my favorite thing about these wipes is the packaging; a nice sound plastic lid and not a peel back sticker.  The price is less friendly at $19 CAD for 30 cloths.

Well my package is almost done, and I have to say I don't like these as much as the original ones. These are nubby on one side and smooth on the other. The textured side can be rough if you're aggressive enough (forgot to photograph, but I'm sure if you're curious enough Google will provide);  anywho I mostly used the smooth side. A nice refreshing eucalyptus type scent did not linger for very long, but neither was it as pleasant as an orange creamsicle :) It took my make-up off well enough for a workout (I like the easy and quick; and after a sweat session I do a proper face cleanse). I had no breakouts and no dryness.

But I'm not re-stocking on any of the Ole Henriksen face wipes. On a recent trip to Shoppers Drug Mart I discovered loads of options at half the price with the same packaging (plastic lid), and I'm going to explore my options. Sometimes I'm price conscious... this is one of those times... I am confident there is something out there just as good for less money :)

BBG - week 10

Monday - Legs
Week 10 is upon me. I actually can't believe it's week 10 already, because I don't have my six-pack :)

Today was all about legs (except for that one move with push-ups). I loved it eventhough I didn't have two benches for Double Bench Jumps or a step for Split Squats. Both these moves were improvised Split Squats.

Few more weeks (maybe months) of these type of 30 min routines, and I can say goodbye to my spanx :)

Tuesday: LISS (low intensity steady state)
The usual walk.

Wednesday: Arms
A day for arms when the number of moves seems to double. Today I faced 36 commandos, in one set!... (I'm still not quite sure how I managed), and many, many push-ups. Bosu ball makes an appearance once again... I just ignore it... they're expensive... I'd rather buy lipstick (I know what you're thinking, but I have my priorities :))

Thursday: LISS (low intensity steady state)
Same as Tuesday.
Friday: Abs
I thought about my abs... then I had a Rose G&T and an American Greed binge :)

Saturday: Friday's Abs + LISS (low intensity steady state) + Rehabilitation
Switched it up today and hit the morning market first, then back home for some Saturday house maintenance... then got down with Kayla and my abs. No special equipment needed for week 10 routine other than a bench (my two ottomans pushed together work). Scissor Kicks on a bench (my two ottomans) are the toughest move for me, and I do need a break halfway through the set sometimes two.

Origins A Perfect World Antioxidant Cleanser with White Tea

This has been my morning buddy for a few months now. Initially I bought it to use in the evening with my Clarisonic, but it proved to be too syrupy. It would sink in to the bristles and become lost. So I popped this in my shower for my morning routine when all I use are my fingertips.
I've switched and I’ve been loving this cleanser. Granted initial purchase made simply by liking what I read on the packaging "Antioxidant" (really not sure if it made a difference). I can never register tiny day to day changes. Plus I use too many products with too many promises to determine which one pays off over time (and I constantly switch it up). As long as I am not breaking out, I'm happy, and base my review on the obvious and superficial observations.
So while the consistency might bee too runny for a Clarisonic, I take small pleasure in how pretty this light peachy pearl cleanser is as it pools in my hand. It has a light white tea and citrus? scent, and lathers gently. Leaves my skin feeling clean and refreshed, not tightness.

Will I repurchase? Most likely... eventually. I like the feel and look of this product, I like the size, I like that it lasts me for months, and I like the price point. But I can't help but be tempted by all the offerings out there... so I stray, feeling reassured that I have something to go back to when needed.

Estée Lauder: Bronze Goddess Skinscent

I can't believe I haven't talked about this yet.... ahhhh it's the old age.... time is flying by :)

Anywho I heard about this 2 or 3 months ago. Went to The Bay for a sniff, and they were sold out, but the kind sales associate dug out the sample bottle and sprayed some on a tester for me. The first thing my nose registered was sweet creamy coconut plus something extra, and knew I was going to buy it. I didn't go on a store hunt, but got mine via Sephora online (no longer available, at least not on the Canadian version of, but still in stock at the actual brand site.
This is a seasonal fragrance... as in each spring/summer Estée re-releases the fragrance but changes up the packaging. I know one year the bottle was gold (just Google it), this year it's a pretty pink to gold ombre transition. The scent is delicious, I save it for the weekends, because when I spritz this I just want beach sand between my toes and a mojito in my hand... since that's not happening I close my eyes douse myself in Bronze Goddess and inhale :)
Official description from Estée online:

"A sensuous, sun-drenched blend of Bergamot, warm Amber, Tiare Flower and Vanilla combined with delicious creamy Coconut.

All heat. All desire. All woman.

Sensuous Notes:
Amber, Coconut Milk, Sandalwood, Vanilla, Vetiver, Myrrh

Warm Notes:
Juicy Mandarin, Sicilian Bergamont, Lemon, Pulpy Orange

Radiant Notes:
Tiare Flower, Jasmine, Magnolia Petals, Orange Flower Buds, Lavender"

Maybelline Waterproof Gel Eyeliner - 5 shades

So I have more Maybelline to share (disclaimer: I did not purchase these). Someone who  knows of my love for makeup, gifted these to me; and now I am the owner of 5 gel liner pencils.

These looked very promising and I was super excited to tear into the packaging (especially the blue one).  Ok, to be honest, I wasn't that excited about the white one. I was all about the white eyeliner (no lie) when I was 16... now not so much.

The colors from left to right:
Cashmere White (606)
Lusturous Sapphire (605)
Glazed Toffee (604)
Smooth Charcoal (602)
Sleek Onyx (601)
The consistency and color intensity of these has me reaching for one or the other (except white) every morning; super smooth and soft (think Giorgio Armani without the price tag), matte, easy to smudge out, and long lasting. By long lasting I mean on my lash line, not my water line (I just don't like lining my inner eye rim).
Currently these are the only 5 shades in this collection (I would like to see a green and an aubergine as well), and Maybelline claims the pencils are waterproof. I haven't had the urge/need to test that, I'll just take their word for it. Comes off easily enough with Shu Uemura cleansing oil.
I am loving all my recent Maybelline additions to the collection. Can't believe that this is a drug store product. Who knows maybe one day I'll even re-visit a drug store foundation.

BBG - week 9

Monday - Legs
Week 9 starts with a photo reminder. I skipped it. I just don't see the change that I was hoping for at this point. On one hand I can't help but feel a bit discouraged, on the other I am not throwing in the towel just yet. I've decided not to decide on the effectiveness of this program after 12 weeks, but after 52.

Today was all about legs. Lots of squats. I'm annoyed with the fact that Kayla requires two gym benches for one move... seriously you need to have a substitute for this one. I just did Split Squats. I love to work out in my living room, and I don't have the room for these accessories. Pretty sure, bum will be feeling today's workout tomorrow.

Tuesday: LISS (low intensity steady state)
The usual walk and podcast.

This morning I finished Metamorphosis by Tracy Anderson for the second time. I wanted to purchase continuity DVDs but it seems you have to enroll in a monthly membership to do that. I just don't want to... have to give it some thought. For now I'll re-start it for the third time.

Wednesday: Arms
I hit a discouragement wall today. Came home from work and just couldn't bring myself to put my sports bra on. Instead I had a beer and watched the documentary on Pluto.

Thursday: Wednesday's Arms & LISS (low intensity steady state)
Woke up this morning and gave myself a mental pep talk. Then put the sports bra on, and faced Kayla's Arm routine. Hard stuff (3 of the moves are pushups). First circuit required double benches for triceps dips. A single ottoman does it for me. Second circuit requires a bosu ball for modified burpees. Don't own one, don't plan to buy one. I have to say second circuit was killer, it started of with broad jump burpees and ended with bosu burpees... a lot of burpees. I just did a double set of regular ones... sweaty work.
Friday: Abs
My Wednesday moment of weakness is over, but Friday's are for taking a load off, putting my feet up, having a glass of wine, and binge watching American Greed (love that show).

Saturday: Friday's Abs + LISS (low intensity steady state) + Rehabilitation
Up at 6 for those Abs I passed on yesterday. I think ab moves are my favorite; one, because that's the area I need the most help with, and two, just like today other than my ottoman and a pair of weights, no special equipment needed. Now I wish my abs looked at tight as they felt :)

Heading to a farm today for some berry picking.... now that's some LISS and rehab.

Perricone MD no Makeup Skincare - No Foundation Foundation Serum Broad Spectrum SPF 30

At the same time I bought the No Blush Blush, I also bought the No Foundation Foundation Serum (not to be confused with the No Foundation Foundation). It only comes in one shade (or did when I bought mine), and since I believe my skin tone to be very common, I naturally assumed it would work (or "intelligently" adjust).
I was wrong. It's a touch too dark, and it doesn't adjust. However that does not mean it's rubbish. It just means I am only able to use it after I got some sun (I don't fake tan). Since it's been pretty summery over the past few weeks and I've enjoyed some rays, I've pulled this out and have been wearing it every weekend. I prefer to wear this on weekends because:
1. it has spf, not needed for office environment
2. it tans my face.... even though I'm naturally a tad darker now, I am under the impression that this makes me faintly darker still (I want to avoid any weird work stares)
3. it has very, very light coverage. Perfect for the weekend. Once I smooth this in (the only foundation where I prefer my fingers to anything else), other than the fact that I feel a bit darker, I can't even tell I have this on my face. It's weightless and invisible :)
I am quite fond of this product, but he fact that Sephora won't ship it to my house anymore doesn't irk me too much; because I like to switch up my foundations all the time, so once this is gone I'll be moving onto something new.

Still I think that Perricone MD team should improve the dropper dispenser. You really can't count out the drops, (I go by the size of the pool in my palm), the foundation/serum is too runny, it runs out of the dropper without any of my help. Otherwise for skin tones leaning towards light-medium to medium and those who prefer light to no coverage with some spf this is a very nice product.

Perricone MD - No Makeup Skincare - No Blush Blush

Bought this during the sale Sephora had in Nov of 2014. It sat in my drawer for a couple of months, because I thought, I might have made a mistake on this one. Then spring finally rolled in and I decided to give this a try one weekend... and since that day few months back, I've been putting this on my cheeks every single day.  It is incredible.
Shake it up to mix minerals and pigments, then apply 3 dots to each cheek, tap and blend. That is all I do, and I feel it gives the most beautiful seamless, flawless flush ever. Some days I follow up with something over it (because I have a lot of blush), but I always start with this as my base.
I don't know if my photos do this product justice, but on the left you have full undiluted smudge, and on the right blended it. Photos from two different sessions, because I wanted to ensure I caught this in different light situations.
This is a fantastic product, and I love that I own it.... I am a tad sad that due to Sephora's recent change it no longer ships Perricone MD product to Canada. Ahhhhh Sephora you've let me down.

BBG - Week 8

Monday - Friday's Full Body
So beginning of week 8 starts with the end of week 7. I couldn't miss a day... it's my bit of OCD, Friday had to be done even if it was 2 days later.

Kayla labeled this routine Full Body, but 5 out of the 8 moves were working my abs. I'm renaming week 7 "60% Abs" :) Feeling the strength, but not seeing it. I'm being honest here, my calves are my best fit feature. You can actually see the awesome muscle. My arms are hard when I flex, but they don't have any definition if I don't. And my middle is looking as soft as ever. I try not to contemplate it too much, because then I become discouraged. Why are abs so hard to get?

Tuesday: Monday's Arms and Abs
Tudsday's LISS was replaced by my Monday workout so that I could get back on track with the schedule. Yesterday was a big ab day as was today... belly is feeling the work.

Wednesday: Abs & Cardio
Abs for a third day in a row. Where is my six pack?

Thursday: LISS (low intensity steady state)
Minimal LISS this week. Today is an anniversary of ours that my husband celebrates (first kiss... who knew), and so since Summerlicious is also on we went to a celebratory dinner at America. We strolled home :)
Friday : Legs & Cardio
Yeah... Fridays take a lot out of me... once I get home, my couch is sometimes irresistible. Watched the opening of Pan Am Games; great show except for the too long speeches.

Saturday : Friday's Legs & Cardio
Up at 5:44am, out of bed at 6:01am, and starting my weekend with Kayla. Lot's of jumping in today's routine. Not enough space for Broad Jump Brupees, regular ones will have to do... and I don't own a stepping step, used an imaginary one :)

Maybelline ColorBlur by Lip Studio (10 shades)

As promised second post is all about my new Maybelline ColorBlur matte lip pencils. I wasn't sure what to expect, but I wasn't about to refuse a free thing. There are 10 shades in the range and I have them all.
Color names from lowest to highest:
05 - Pink Insanity
10 - Fast & Fuchsia
15 - Berry Misbehaved
20 - Orange Ya Glad
25 - Cherry Cherry Bang Bang
30 - Partner in Crimson
35 - Plum, Please
40 - My-My Magenta
45 - I'm Blushing!
50 - I like to Mauve It
So this is the gimmick of these pencils. One end is a color packed stylus, and the other is a rubber end to smudge the color, so you can achieve that blurred effect. I have to say that I do not use the smudger, I like these all over my lips... with some clear gloss on top, because matte lip is not my bag.
Shade range is beautiful, texture absolutely outstanding (super soft), and pigment so rich that I gasped when I swatched my first shade.
I tend to gravitate towards the first three shades and the last three shades, everything in between is a promise to myself to wear eventually (I'll start with around the house).
 so, so, so pretty....
Just imagine if I hadn't gotten these gratis, I would have never know how amaizing these are. I'm still not going to run out and get more drug store makeup, but I am glad to have these in my collection.

Maybelline Baby Lips Moisturizing Lip Gloss (10 shades)

I've said it before (I think), I am not drawn to drug store makeup. It's not that I think drug store makeup is bad. I don't. Hell for all I know it's cheaper and better... I'm just saying I like to spend my money elsewhere. Main reason why: I'm simply not tempted. More specific:

1. I don't have the urge to own every eyeshadow or every lipstick, so I don't need to stretch my play budget.
2. I am not (and don't plan to be) a professional makeup artist, I do not need that much stuff.
3. I'm not even a professional Youtuber. I don't do tutorials to appeal to mass viewers. I don't have the skill or the time.
4. High end makeup just gives me that special feeling. I love it.

Is it snobbish?... you betcha, spoiled?... no kidding... paid with my own money?... you got it :)

Having said that. Recently I came into possession of some Maybelline lip products. In one moment I went from having none, to having too many (or is it really possible to have too many). These are relatively new on the scene (I think), I have 10 lip crayons and 10 lip glosses.

Today I'll show you the lip gloss line up, and next post will be all about the crayons.

There are 12 shades in this gloss collection. I have 10, missing shade #30 and #35, but I won't be purchasing, 10 is plenty to play with. Let's run through the color names:
05 - Just a Glimmer
10 - A Wink of Pink
15 - Fuchsia Flicker
20 - Lilac Lumi
25 - Taupe with Me
40 - Tickled Pink
45 - Coral Craze
50 - Pink Pizazz
55 - Fab & Fuchsia
60 - Berry Chic
The lip glosses come in 3 finishes: shimmers (#05 to #20), creams (#25 to #40) and, jellies (#45 to #60); and that's what you should base your color choice on, the finish of the gloss, because there isn't much of a color payoff to be had.
However they feel amazing on the lips; moisturizing for sure, comfortable, light and have a delicate pleasant sweet scent.
So while I do feel like I have 10 of the same color, even if they look slightly different on my arm, it's very hard to tell them apart individually on my lips. But I don't mind, no such thing as too much of a good thing :)

BBG - Week 7

Monday - Legs & Cardio
Back to regular programming in week 7 with Legs & Cardio. Double gym benches required for Weighted Sumo Squats. I do regular Sumo Squats with weights and I'm hoping for results :)

Getting much better at Burpees as well; a set of 15 no longer hurts as much as a set of 10 used to :)

Tuesday: LISS (low intensity steady state)
My regular walk with a new episode of Criminal and This American Life. I'm a podcast addict.

Wednesday: Abs & Cardio
It's July 1st, Happy Canada Day!!! I could get used to having Wednesdays off work :) Woke up and passed on Tracy, but started my day off with Kayla. Double benches recommended but not available in this household. As well I modified my commando technique, now my palms don't leave the floor. It feels easier, I just don't know if it's proper :)

Thursday: LISS (low intensity steady state)
Listened to music on my walk home. It was a nice change of pace.
Friday : Legs & Cardio
Well Friday wasn't optional but I skipped it. Summerlicious at Tutti Matti with some friends took precedence. I had plans to catch up, but Saturday morning was spent at the market and the afternoon in my parent's backyard hanging out. Slow start to Sunday, turned into a slow lazy day. So the plan is to do Week 7 Friday workout on Monday of Week 8, and Monday of Week 8 on Tuesday of Week 8... then I'll be once again back on track :)
