Dior Diorshow Fusion Mono Long-Wear Eyeshadow - Meteore (661)

I usually take a picture first then stick my finger in… but things happened backwards this time around.

I bought this at The Bay sometime in December. We were shopping for a new mattress but to get to the mattress floor we passed through the beauty floor, and as you'd have it this caught my eye. I stuck my finger in and  loved the swatch on the back of my hand. On top of that The Bay had a 10% off promotion on all cosmetics… This was a first for me. I have never heard of any department store discounting beauty products, I thought only Sephora did that. So 10% off + love it = got to have it.
It comes with a puny little brush, that I kept but do not use (not pictured). Suggested application methods: brush for settle effect, finger for concentrated impact. On my eyes I use a brush, because I prefer a diffused look, for you on my arm I give you both options.
I love this sparkly gold/coppery shade. I find it easy to apply and blend out. It wears well until I take it off (8 - 14 hours), and I've experienced no fall out.

How will it hold up? Only time will tell. Will it dry out and become unusable? I hope not. I take extra care to screw the lid back on tightly after use.

These are pricey even with a discount; so swatch and decide for yourself if worthy of your $ :)

Caudalie Instant Foaming Cleanser

The problem of trying to run a blog between October and April is that taking photos in natural light is near impossible. Monday to Friday when I leave for work, sun is just coming up… and by the time I get home it has already set. So I wait for the weekends… but it appears Sun also has Monday to Friday hours, and takes the weekend off… It usually, rains, or snows, or we’re just heavily overcast.

As in right now, 4pm on a Sunday afternoon...
I suppose my answer would be to invest in studio lights… but I’m just not that popular to make that kind of investment. So while I wait for a weekend with sunshine to take some proper swatch photos, my posts won’t be as frequent as I’ve planned, but they'll be coming.

Today I have a face cleanser.

Why I bought it?
- I needed a light morning face cleanser.
- Caudalie is one of my favorite brands.
- I saw a very favorable review on YouTube from someone I find to be honest and truthful.

- Light, non-drying, non-stripping foamy face wash.
- Youtuber was right.

Do I like it?
- I like the texture and feel.
- Skin feels clean and comfortable after use.
- I can't stand the scent. It's not something I will ever get used to.
- It smells exactly like this product.

Will I repurchase?
- Nope.... scent is a big deal.

Project Make a Dent (MaD 2016 - round 2)

I've decided to start of 2016 with another installment of Project Make a Dent or (MaD). I've taken a quick look at my stash and chosen 8 products I would like to use up in the next 12 months (if not quicker). Every 3 months I will post an update of my progress (hopefully significant).

In this year's lineup:
1. Guerlain Météorites Powder For The Face in Teint Rosé 01 - I've had this for 5.5 years and I don't believe this has deteriorated at all. It smells heavenly as it always has, I just shelved it and stopped reaching for it. Feels like this will take quite a while to use up, it's time to start now.  I also believe Guerlain has now 4 shades in this range, instead of the original 3 when I made my purchase. Teint Rose 01 is now Clair 02 in case you are interested.

2. CHANEL SOLEIL TAN DE CHANEL - Bronzing Makeup Base - This is coming up on 4 years. I've made quite a dent in it (because it is beautiful), but it's getting on in age and I want something else, time to use it up.

3. Clarins Everlasting Foundation - I've had this for a bit over 4  years as well; this might be well past its good by date (we'll see). It's hard to tell from my shot but I've used up about 1/2 of the bottle before I stopped using it. I'll see how it goes soon enough, this might be already an "empty" if it doesn't feel or smell right.

4. Burberry Eye Liner in Midnight Blue - Another oldie... 5 years or so. This was purchased when Burberry initially launched their makeup line... the formulation of eye pencils might have changed; I don't even know if they carry this one anymore. Upon a quick swatch it feels a bit dry, not creamy as I remembered... so time might have done its harm.

5. Giorgio Armani Eyes to Kill  #7 Sweet Fire - Had this for almost 5 years as well; purchased upon initial release, when there were some name discrepancies; so I'm not sure if this is still called Sweet Fire or if it still exists in current line.

6. CHANEL Illusion D'Ombre - Illusoire (83) - just over 4 years, still so pretty even if it has dried out quite a bit. It did not break up, but it no longer fills up the container, and rattles around like a loose puck it has become. Wore it today (Jan. 3rd), and did not observe any loss in quality.

7. CHANEL Rouge Coco Shine - Rebelle 63 - It's a pretty sheer red shade that's been on the shelf for too long.

8. Anastasia Beverly Hills: Brow Ex-press - Lastly another oldie, that was featured in the first round of this project. This is it, if in the next 12 moths I haven't used it up, one way or another this the last year for this palette.

Happy New Year!

New Year… new resolutions… one of which is to continue my tiny blog.

I took a break… it was sudden, but I don’t think I was missed. I am not at the forefront of beauty news, I never get the latest releases before they’re launched, and I don’t jump at beauty band wagons (or try not to). I am not a professional MUA  or blogger, have no affiliation with any PR agency or cosmetics company, and my daily job has nothing to do with beauty industry. I am just a fan, and as such I don’t collect everything.  What I post I purchased with my own money, hoping not to be disappointed… any opinion voiced here is late and no longer relevant to those who need to know “now” :)

But I do like my “beauty diary” for personal reasons, and if someone by chance manages to stumble upon it, they may like it too.

In the last 3 months, I have purchased and used up quite a number of items, and kept track of neither. I have painted my den/study/beauty room, and reorganized my stash. New setup gives me new energy… so here we go 2016 :)
