NARS Blush - Goulue

Somehow during my online Sephora browse I stumbled upon this blush... I didn't care for the name (don't even know how to pronounce it), but I was drawn to the shade. The fact that it is limited edition and only available to VIB Rouge members had me searching online for swatches. Having seen a few, I decided a 2nd NARS blush should become a part of my collection (first one being Orgasm years ago (not a fan)).

Wikipedia explained "Goulue" to me as well; in short it's a nickname given to a French can-can dancer meaning "Glutton". She was very popular in the last 1800's, and her name was Louise Webber. I don't know for sure if that is who NARS intended to name their blush after... but it seems right.

While I was never a fan of Orgasm (I just got swept up by the hype), and given a second chance I would never have bought it, Goulue is perfection and should become part of the permanent collection.

This is a perfect marriage of cool berry with golden sheen, not shimmer... sheen. It's not frosty, it's beautiful.
I am in serious like with this blush.... ok... possibly love
Here are some swatches to help you visualize why this is so perfect.
Even at 1pm sunshine has that late afternoon yellow tone... love this city... but natural light is hard to come by 9 months out of 12 :)
I could not, and glad I did not pass this up.

Marc Jacobs Style Eye-Con No. 20 - The Free Spirit (224)

When it comes to makeup I'm always on the look out for something pretty; but it's winter/holiday and spring releases that excite me the most, and it's the time when I happen to acquire most of my stuff.

This past Holiday season, I didn't see much I really wanted (probably because I already have so much); I was disappointed but my wallet wasn't. I passed on most of it but not all of it. At the end of 2015 I was palette obsessed and two releases could not be passed up.

One of which is this 20 shadow palette from Marc Jacobs. Until this purchase I did not own any MJ shadows; even though I've played with Shoe Gazer every time I went to Sephora, and many a time came close to splurging. I'm glad I held off because with this palette my MJ shadow craving is satisfied (unless he comes out with another one like this for 2016 holidays :)). The fact that it is limited edition makes it all that much more special.

You can't tell from the picture, but the starry night packaging is iridescent, and sparkles and shifts in color. I usually don't hold onto it, but in this case I did... for now at least.
I actually did not know that this palette had a name, until I went to photograph it.
Palette a classic MJ look, just bigger :)
The mirror inside is fantastic... I want to say perfect for travel, but I would never risk taking this with me anywhere and possibly breaking it. Still you pop this open and wow....
With a 20 shade palette the odds are good that there will be a couple of shades that you don't like... but I'm loving everything in here... some won't get as much wear as others but I personally don't find any duds.
MJ included a look pamphlet  with this palette. I forgot to photograph it. It has 5 looks and they are easy to remember because you just move top to bottom across the rows to get the look. It goes without saying that I lean towards the first 2 rows, then the 3rd, than the 5th, and 4th row is my least popular look :) But of course phamplets are only guidelines and ideas to get you started, one can do what one wants when the inspiration strikes.
Here come the swatches... I decided to squeeze all 20 shades on my arm all at once, because light is short and I just wanted to see them all at once. Love the pigmentation, love the colors, love the texture... just love.
