Tarte - Rainforest of the Sea™ - Eyeshadow Palette

This I actually purchased with my own money (before myself imposed ban).  I'm enjoying the lip products from this release so much (see here and here) that when I saw this online I knew I wanted to own it.

The colour range in this palette might not be much for some (being all neutrals)... But that is what I love most about it... It is completely wearable, every single shade.  It comes with a two look printout, that I will try to reproduce and most likely not even come close. I feel I just don't have the brush eye coordination necessary.

Tarte shadows are highly rated for their quality and colour payoff by online reviews, and other than the palest shade in this wheel, the raves are all justified.

This is a limited edition release... so if you love neutrals consider this as a splurge.
The palette itself is  very pretty... a round disk with a great mirror.
And the eight shade color wheel....
And the shades clockwise from top (noon) spot...

Holt Renfrew Spring 2016 Beauty Bag

My husband fell of the wagon (the why is here); and came home with this little treat this past Friday. Granted it's been a bit of a week... and it's hard to be mad at a surprise... plus this little set is only $35 CAD... so I'm letting this one slide...

I do love these seasonal editions from HR... and this peach spring bag is no exception.
Cute lip print scarf tied to the end is a cute touch.
And the goodies found inside... from left to right... top to bottom
1. A $10 voucher that can be used on any beauty product as long as it's over $25 before tax... and must be used up before May 12th.
2. Erno Lashlo - A Timeless Ritual For Ageless Skin -  which includes: Phelityl Pre-Cleansing Oil, Sea Mud Deep Cleansing Bar, Light Controlling Lotion
3. Molton Brown Delicious Rhubarb & Rose Bath & Shower Gel
4. Darphin Paris Stimulskin Plus Anti-Age Global Total Anti-Aging
5. Clinique Repairwear Anit-Gravity Eye Cream
6. Sisley Hydra-Global Hydration Intense Anti-Age

10. Kiehl's Turmeric & Cranberry Seed Energizing Radiance Masque, Cilantro & Orange Extract Pollutant Defending Masque

Some of these products excite me, some I ambivalent towards... and one (#11) I can do without.

Project Make a Dent (MaD 2016 - 1st quarter update)

So we're already into our 4th month of 2016... time for my first Mad (make a dent) update. Below the products I chose in January (see the post here) and their state.
Now 3 months later, the update. Clear progress in some, and no progress in others...
A quick update on each....

1. Guerlain Météorites Powder For The Face in Teint Rosé 01 - I try to use this most days. I swirl my brush in and then I sweep over my face; but it looks like I haven't touched it. Trust me I do.

2. CHANEL SOLEIL TAN DE CHANEL - Bronzing Makeup Base - A bit of progress here; and I reach for this most days as well. I'm just not great at bronzing, so I don't use much. But I think I can get through it in the next 9 months.

3. Clarins Everlasting Foundation - Never even made it onto my face. I reached for it on Jan. 4th, and my eyes strayed to the expiration date printed on the bottle. It was 2012... we parted ways right there and then... I regret being wasteful.

4. Burberry Eye Liner in Midnight Blue - Since Jan. I've sharpened it 3 times. It got a bit creamer and softer, and I reach for it as often as I can. I usually also top it with an eyeshadow, to get a smoother, softly smoked out look.

5. Giorgio Armani Eyes to Kill  #7 Sweet Fire - Used it for the first 2 weeks straight... then got side tracked... I don't think there will be much more progress here.

6. CHANEL Illusion D'Ombre - Illusoire (83) - Same with this... I used it for about 2 weeks... I don't see myself reaching for this anytime soon... Might revisit in the fall.

7. CHANEL Rouge Coco Shine - Rebelle 63 - Wore it once... a bit too bright. But hot summer days should arrive eventually... I promised myself to make this my lip priority then.

8. Anastasia Beverly Hills: Brow Ex-press - The product with most progress. I use the light shade as my daily crease shadow and the darker shade to define my brows. This will be done this year.

Next update early in July :)

Makeup Ban....

http://dermaestheticsusa.com/2015/07/the-newest-make-up-trend-is-no-makeup/
Nope, it's not an April Fool's joke. I mean it. I mean it so much that I wished to publish my promise. No more makeup until November Sephora sale... and maybe not even then.

I will purchase skin care and bath products if needed; but even then it should be at least a couple of months before I need anything.

Reason for this decision. I have so much makeup. More than one person needs really. There is stuff I bought and have yet to try ... and stuff that I have not reached for in months. Time to get it into rotation and enjoy it.

I love makeup, I'm not saying this will be easy... but I love to travel more; and I have plans for a trip that requires a serious budget; and therefore a serious saving commitment.

I am a VIB Rouge level at Sephora, which means I spend at least $1,000 on product each year... and that's only at Sephora... there is also TSC, HR, department stores etc....  I'm not a professional makeup artist, or even a social media beauty guru ... and have no aspirations for either role. My love for makeup is personal, and I've decided it comes secondary to life experiences.

You know the quote "I'd rather have a passport full of stamps, than a house full of stuff."... I read that and thought "YES!!!"... and so makeup ban is on.

So what will happen to this little blog. Well not much. As I've said I have a lot of makeup, and a ton of nail polish, that I've never blogged about... so this public beauty dairy will continue... and maybe even become a bit peppered with other random posts... who knows...

The makeup ban also applies to my husband, because his money is my money and my money is his money… and this trip is for both of us… If makeup should come to me through other venues that don’t cost us a thing… well I’m no prude :)

Here is to staying on the wagon :)
