Not Necessary....

Sephora... come on.... is this really necessary....

You've limited this to Toronto... if I really need a product today, I will physically go to one of your locations... I don't need it delivered.

I'm pretty sure your distribution center is a beehive of activity on any day, I'm not interested in stressing your employees out :)

IT Cosmetics 7 Year Anniversary TSC Special

So once I fell off my wagon... I decided to stay down for a TSC showstopper, and a mini Sephora order (to be shown once it arrives, most likely this Monday (May 30th)).

Of course my plan was to pass on the TSC special until I saw what's in it.  All of these products were something I wanted to try but it's the brush that sealed the deal. It alone retails for over $60CAD, but the whole bundle was only $69 CAD.... and it just looked sooooooo soft.

The awesome anniversary deal included:

Bye Bye Pores Pressed Airbrush Silk Pressed Anti-Aging Finishing Powder - wow that's a mouthful :) and it's getting great reviews online. Looking forward to dipping my brush in it.

Bye Bye Pores Blush in Naturally Pretty - wore it today... amazing!

Bye Bye Makeup 3-in-1 Makeup Melting Cleansing Balm - never tried a cleansing balm, this will be the first. I have no plans on using it anytime soon, I have a couple of cleansing oils to use up first.

Bye Bye Pores Powder Brush - No 701 - this brush is everything.

Bye Bye Under Eye Illumination Full Coverage Anti-Aging Waterproof Concealer - this is some powerful stuff. I had the original long time ago... waterproof formula will come in handy once the weather heats up.

And then, because I felt this was such a great deal, I threw in a little something else into my basket;  it was discounted for the anniversary. (The palette and the brush came as one.)

Guerlain La Petite Robe Noir Deliciously Shiny Lip Colour Vernis - 060 Rose Ribbon

The last time I painted my nails was August 2014. It's took me a while to get these digits in order. Hoping I can maintain them from now on, and no more splits or major breaks... because I have a very healthy nail polish stash that I want to play with it.

For all the polish that I bought months and years ago, it's the most recent addition that I decided to end my dry spell with.  It's the packaging that got me, a mini polish version of their La Petite Robe Noire fragrance.

There are 9 shades in the range, but this is the only one that was at Sephora during my visit, and so this is the one I ended up with.

The polish is fragranced. My husband says it smells like bubble gum... definitely on the sweet flowery side. Even after 3 days of wear when I held up my nails to my nose, I could still smell the scent... so maybe not for everyone.

The product line up for my first paint job of 2016:

NailsInc - NailKale Superfood - base coat (1 coat)
Guerlain - Rose Ribbon - color (2 coats)
China Glaze - Fairy Dust - accent (1 coat) - favorite
Deborah Lippmann - On A Clear Day - topcoat (1 coat)
Zoya - Hurry Up - drying drops (1 drop per nail)
For someone who hasn't painted her nails in almost 2 years, I must say I did a pretty good job. It's mostly thanks to the fantastic short but perfectly wide brush, that held just enough polish for nice even coats.
Love the formula and love this light pink.
I put this on my nails on Sunday, I took it off Wednesday night. It held up pretty nicely for me, with minimal tip wear and some tiny chipping that I noticed after my yoga class on Wed. I'm not one who expects her mani to last 7 days with no signs of wear... 3 days is good enough in my books.

Beauty Ban Fail... Fell Into the Ditch

Last week I received an email from Sephora... It was an invitation to a re-opening of their location at Eaton Center. The event was on Thursday and I RSVP'd because why not?  There was bubbly, there were pastries by Nadège, there were samples galore... and then there was some shopping... no willpower.

Things that ended up in my basket:

Fresh: Seaberry Skin Nutrition Cleansing Oil - I love a cleansing oil, and will need a new one soon. I haven't tried one from Fresh yet, looking forward to it.

Boscia White Charcoal Mattifying MakeUp Setting Spray - Never found one I liked, hoping this one will be different.

Boscia - two sheet masks Tsubaki and Sake
. I enjoy a nice sheet mask now and then.

Kat Von D Shade + Light Eye Contour Quad: in Rust
. Stuck my fingers in and I couldn’t believe the texture… so smooth… so pigmented

Guerlain La Petite Robe Noir Deliciously Shiny Lip Colour Vernis - 060 Rose Ribbon
- currently on my nails... I'll show you swatches next.

MUFE Single Artist Shadow - D200 Crystalline Mauve Turquoise (Diamond). In my collection of shadows this one is one of a kind.

All the rest are some of the samples gifted to me during the event; and since of course I spend more than $50, it all got packaged into a neat one of a kind tote.

Becca Luminous Blush in Snapdragon

My most reached for blush these days is Snapdragon from Becca; a luminous coral that's perfect for spring.
This is my first and only Becca blush... for now.  There is a couple more I have my eye on, but not until November.
This blush has fantastic pigmentation... you definitely don't need to swirl your brush, a gentle tap is plenty.
Becca is quickly becoming a favorite... and this blush is a welcome addition to my collection.

Too Faced Chocolate Bon Bons Palette

Too Faced has 4 palettes of this kind in their line-up (the original chocolate bar, the semi-sweet chocolate bar, the bon bons, and I hear there is a peach one out there as well), but this is the only one I wanted.

I've passed and played with it on several occasions at Sephora... and one day a couple of months ago, it just came home with me.
For some the color selection is too cool; but I find no fault with it,
Others find the packaging a bit tacky and childish. Once again I find no fault with it... I find it, cute, playful and original.
Especially since the shadows inside mimic the embossed outline on the lid; and I think this is what tipped the purchase/not purchase scale for me.
And the swatches. I've worn most of these shades and found no duds. They are pigmented, soft, creamy, even, easy to blend.... a solid formulation for sure.
There was a three look pamphlet included. I've already recycled it :)

Falling Off The Wagon... ooops

So I promised myself no makeup until November... but a little something snuck in this past weekend (Saturday to be specific).

Why?

Well I had a $10 beauty coupon at HR, and it was set to expire on the 12th so I went to cash it in. My intention was to only buy a toner, since that is something I'll be running low on very soon. I browsed and in the end decided to splurge on something I've had on my list for a couple of years now... while waiting to cash out my finger snuck into Iron Ore, and my "no makeup" resolve evaporated. From the wagon I tumbled... I'm back on it ... for now...

I'll post swatch pictures, when I have a moment to take a decent shot... hopefully in the next week or two.

Physicians Formula Butter Bronzer in Light Bronzer & Bronzer

I see this bronzer popping up on all the beauty channels I watch; and it's a big favorite with everyone. I've seen it so much, that I got a bit of Butter Bronzer fever and just could not help myself. One of the big draws here is the scent, which is nice... summery, coconut, suntan lotion... it doesn't linger on the face. One drawback are the shades... there are two... both very light (you can barely tell the difference)...

I bought both shades, because it was on sale. In Canada it retails for $22.99, but at Shoppers Drug Mart it was marked down to $14.99 plus a $9 mail-in rebate. So both cost me $12 + tax... I felt justified.
I labeled both shades... Bronzer is a tad darker... but once blended in on the face I don't think you can tell the difference... and if I had to buy only one, I'd buy the Bronzer.
They are beautiful and creamy and worth the $6... Included is this spongy applicator, which I haven't used, and don't plan to... It's a powder, I prefer to use a brush.
Now for some swatches... side by side. (The brown spot in the middle is a brown marker dot, for the camera to focus on); and you can see just how pale you must be for this to show up as a bronzer on your skin.
