Anastasia Beverly Hills Metallic Luster Liner - Liquid Gold

I first saw this pencil on Tati's channel (YouTube). Instantly smitten. But it wasn't available at Sephora online (Canadian version) or in local stores (Toronto). Anastasia's shipping charges were too rich of my blood, and Amazon wanted $80USD per pencil... craaaaaazy.
I promised myself one day to own it... but not at that price... So glad I waited. Because a couple of months later Sephoras in Toronto re-vamped their entire Anastasia collection... and expanded the range from just brow products, to lips, to shadows, to pencils :)
Now I own both a gold and a silver of these. Because I got them during separate visits,  silver swatches coming up in the next post. Gorgeous metallic pencils for those who like to go beyond neutral on their eyes :)

Kat Von D Shade + Light Eye Contour Quad: in Rust

When I see a beautiful rusty eye shadow, it is hard for me to tell myself that I don't want it... because I do. So I tell myself that I don't need it, (you won't see it often on my eyes)... but that doesn't stop me either.
Kat Von D's original Shade+Light eyeshadow palette has it's own cult following. I wasn't and still am not tempted, but when she released smaller quad versions this spring, I knew I had to take a closer look at Rust... because of that one shade, that looks more orange than rust in my pictures :)
The texture of these shadows is so perfect... the words soft, creamy, and silky come to mind when I think of them. If the original palette has the same formulation I understand the love many have for it.
I wore this once so far, and loved it... but I put it away for now. This color scheme is perfect for fall... October/November this will most likely be my most used item. Right now it doesn't suit my summer mood... but still no regrets in having made this purchase.

Regret - Tarte Maracuja Neck Treatment

Lovely packaging (that rich purple), nice light scent (barely there), rich texture (feels nourishing)... but... it doesn't sink in. I'll apply it, and 15 min later run my fingers over my decollete and moisturizer balls up... it's weird... and has resulted in clogged pores on my chest... not majorly obvious, but my fingertips feel that "bumpy" texture... Not cute,  I don't like it...

I've stopped using this on my neck and decollete .. but won't throw it out because I paid good money for it. I'll see how it does as a foot cream.

Based on my experience, I don't recommend it. Tate makeup = great , Tarte neck cream = not so much.

I have my sight set on a similar product from a different brand... but first I'll let my skin return to it's pre-Tarte state.

MUFE Single Artist Shadow - D200 Crystalline Mauve Turquoise (Diamond)

Let me show you this little gem. I've been stalking it for a couple of years... well at least it feels like it. I lost count on how many occasions I've swatched it and talked myself out if it... until the day I didn't.
Within my collection this shadow stands by itself. I own nothing that comes even close.... and sadly pictures don't do it justice. If you love unique shades I suggest you pop into your nearest MUFE counter and play with this beauty.... the only word I can think of to describe this color is "ethereal"... at least that's what I would name it if given a chance.
Love this on days when I feel like blue but not quite like blue :)

Chantecaille Le Mognolia Eye and Cheek Palette

I've had this for quite some time. It was a surprise treat from my husband... every piece of makeup he gave me I cherish... for the fact that it came from him, they are some of my favorite items.

I know the brand, so I know this is a pricey item... but I also know it is quality; and secretly I've always wanted to own one of these special releases from Chantecaille. This particular one is for Spring 2016.
Inside the palette, three neutral, every day, office appropriate, eye shadows and a blush. A no-brainer when getting ready in the morning Monday to Friday... if your office has some strict office appropriate makeup policy... my doesn't :)
Still I do love these, one because they came from J, and two because they are just so easy to wear. When I want a basic, but pretty look... this is it.

Tarte Clean Slate 360° Creaseless 12-Hr Smoothing Eye Primer

Online description at Sephora:
"This primer acts as a smudge-proof base for shadow while preventing fallout and migration of color. The universal shade glides on easily and powers through the day into the evening for 12 hours of perfect wear."

Sounds great. I don't like it.

It sort of works for me, sort of doesn't. Depends on the shadows I use. Most of the time I have creasing at the end of the day... I guess by then the 12 hour promise is up.

I was sold on this because the formula is marketed as waterproof, and formulated without parabens, sulfates, synthetic fragrances, petrochemicals, phthalates, or GMOs. I'm trying to make my skincare/ makeup routine more natural and organic... but this product just doesn't jive with me.

It has over 300 reviews on Sephora online and a near perfect star rating... which means I'm an outlier, and you shouldn't base your decision regarding this product by reading my words.

I didn't throw it out... still using it and will use it up. I just won't repurchase.

Should just stay down....

Here is the thing… when you’re on a diet and slip once, it might as well be over. At least that seems be the case for me. I thought my makeup ban was going to be a breeze. I have so much of it already, that I felt I’d remain un-wanting. Well I was wrong… here and here and here and here and today’s post... and oh yeah husband here.

Sephora had a little VIB Rouge event on Jun. 15th, I went with intention to only purchase an eye cream (something that I actually needed) and to score the sample bag… but my resolve melted into thin air the minute my feet passed that Sephora threshold.

Items that were acquired:

Buxom Full-On Lip Cream in Rose Julep - Youtube influenced purchase. I believe I saw kathleenlights mention this particular one on her channel… and it just stuck with me. I love the color, it has a sweet scent, and a nice minty feeling on the lips… might become a staple of mine.

Caudalie Resveratrol[Lift] Eye Lifting Balm
- The item I actually went to the store for. Did my online research days before. I did not want to be swayed by SA sales pitch or overwhelmed by choices. Caudalie is a favorite brand of mine. Currently I have 5 of their products in rotation, and eye cream makes it 6.

Alterna Caviar Clinical Daily Detoxifying Shampoo With Red Clover - I had 4 shampoos in my shower when I made this purchase, this makes it 5. I feel my hair has been on the thin side lately (feeling a bit stressed), and I’ve enjoyed using this in the past. Having it back in my arsenal alleviates some of my anxiety.

Becca Shimmering Skin Perfector Luminous Blush in Camellia - I have Snapdragon, and it is so beautiful, that I wanted another one from this collection; and Camellia caught my eye. Swatches coming soon; but if you’re looking for a gorgeous blush with a glow then check out this lineup from Becca.

And because I dragged Jason to this (my official basket bearer :)), a couple of items for him.

Boscia Wakame Firming Hydrogel Mask
- We do love our sheet masks. I wanted to try this one for myself as well, we’ll see how he likes it first.

Caudalie Hand and Nail Cream - The only one for J; it is simply the best.
Now for the freebies. I never know what to expect, but this was a total score.  First, the size of the bag itself… massive :) Could probably fit a laptop… iPad for sure :) and such a pretty design.
Second the samples, win.

CoverFX Mattifying Primer with Anti-Acne Treatment - I have one primer on my beauty desk, that I barely reach for, maybe this will change things for me.

Kat Von D Lolita - What’s all the hype about this liquid lipstick? I hope to find out in the near future. This is my first and only liquid lipstick. I don't belong to the liquid lipstick club. I like my lips glossy and moisturized, not matte and dry. This might not be a product for me.

MUFE Aqua Lip in 3C - neutral shade will always come in handy.

Atelier Cologne in Pomelo Paradis with a postcard :) - pomelo... I should enjoy this sample... but probably not enough to purchase.

Too Faced Chocolate Soleil in Medium/Dark -  might be too dark for me; but maybe not.

Sunday Riley Good Genes Treatment - if you’re not blessed with them they come in a bottle :)

Laneige Multiberry Yogurt Repairing Mask - I'm open to a mask that claims to "promote collagen production"... hopefully it's a good one.

Next fail coming in July… I already know… that’s when another Sephora store will open in Toronto (Yonge & Eglinton)… or so they promise on their window sign. You know I’m going to the opening celebration if there is one. By that time I will most likely need to re-stock my night toner and morning face wash... so intention will be there to just walk way with two products... but lack of willpower may result in another "off the wagon" post.

a-england: Princess Sabra - nail polish swatch

I bought 4 a-england polishes in 2012 (see here) directly from a-england. Things have changed since then, and a-england no longer ships to Canada.  There are other options which I may consider, because even after 4 years this polish is fantastic. I mean A+ for color, finish, viscosity, application... across the board A+.

Princess Sabra is described as "Alluringly feline golden olive bronzite, the sacrificial Princess constantly shifts with her elusive, myriad hues."

Mani Choices:

NailsInc - NailKale Superfood - base coat (1 coat)
a-englad - Princess Sabra - color (2 coats)
Deborah Lippmann - On A Clear Day - topcoat (1 coat)
Zoya - Hurry Up - drying drops (1 drop per nail)

In my mani line-up Princess Sabra doesn't look like much... that's due to my photo taking skills (or lack of) and the sun hiding behind some clouds.
Application was a breeze. First swatch while the sun was still behind the clouds.
Then the rays hit my digits and the multi colored shimmer dazzled my eyes.
Such a great color. Such a great brand. I think I'd like to own every single one of a-england polish... one can dream :)

Clarins Instant Light Lip Comfort Oil - Honey (01), Raspberry (02), Red Berry (03)

This came to me via a friend. I had my eye on one of these for a while, so I was very pleased to get all three without any need to pull out my wallet.

From left to right we have: Honey 01, Raspberry 02, Red Berry 03.
The sponge tip applicator is massive and fantastic at the same time.
I tried to take a fancy picture and ended up spilling some of the product instead (reason why my bottles don't look full).
Major difference is the flavor of these. Honey is my favorite, but they are all pretty good.  On the lips color difference doesn't play much of a difference (unless your lips are very pale); but I swatched them on my arm for you as well.
I do enjoy the way these feel; comfortable without being sticky

Becca Release Fail

So it appears Becca and Jaclyn colab wasn't the perfection it was supposed to be. The eye palette has been pulled. It is no longer available on Sephora sites and will not be part of the in-store release on June 16th. Details are all over the web, but it boils down to quality. Supposedly it wasn't the same, the job was rushed, and it resulted in a product that wasn't Becca caliber.

I bought the Jaclyn eye palette the minute it became available online, and as these were my first Becca shadows, I had no point of reference for comparison, and so I didn't give them much though. I have other shadows with stronger pigmentation and smoother feel, but I found these shadows to be nice... and well, this was a Jaclyn palette and because of that I wanted it. However enough hardcore Becca fans out there and serious beauty vlogers and bloggers raised their voices over the fact that these were not "Becca quality shadows" (makeup drama was real).  And so the palette is no more.

Now Sephora will issue a refund to anyone who wishes to return their Becca Jaclyn palette. While it did set me back $48CAD + tax, and it might not be worth that price, I've decided to keep mine. It is the ultimate limited edition release, and should it be re-released in the future, I'll buy it again, just so I can compare.

I'm wondering how many will opt to return vs keep.

Chantecaille Single Eye Shadow in Iron Ore

I was at the Chantecaille counter at Holt Renfrew... saw this out of the corner of my eye... turned and my finger dipped into the pan out of it's own volition. The sparkle was magical. I tried to tell myself it's my finger not my eyelid, and these are store lights not real life, but ended walking away with it anyway (and this as well).
It sparkles like a jewel in direct sunlight. I was mesmerized.
It is incredibly, and I mean incredibly pigmented. The sparkle is not as intense, but the pigments...wooowza. I have yet to wear this all over my eyelid, but daily I've been reaching for this as my eyeliner choice... so smooth... so even... such a gorgeous shade. This is one of my favorite slips.

Becca Jaclyn Hill Champagne Collection Eye Palette

I've decided to get on it and make this post a priority. Granted swatches and reviews are all over the web (most probably better than mine), but I find when I'm thinking of a purchase I want as much online input as possible. So here is mine.

Palette gorgeous, shiny, gold... with white confetti logo. A+ for visual appeal.
Five neutral/warm shades with a cool mauve in the center. First two (left) are shimmery, the other three are matte. So yes maybe not anything groundbreaking, but still lovely. The second shade from the left called Champagne Toast has been created by Jaclyn and is only available in this palette.
Here come the swatches. Lovely formulation, easy blendability, effortless application.
Available in Sephora stores on June 16th... get yours if you're into it before they sell out :)

SpaRitual - Fickle

SpaRitual has been disappearing around Toronto... I don't know why. Their nail polish does tend to stain nails, but it's great polish, and they do have some great colors. Case in point, Fickle... a gorgeous lavender-gold duo chrome.

On my nails, in order of application:

NailsInc - NailKale Superfood - base coat (1 coat)
SpaRitual - Fickle - color (2 coats)
China Glaze - Fairy Dust - accent (1 coat) - favorite
Deborah Lippmann - On A Clear Day - topcoat (1 coat)
Zoya - Hurry Up - drying drops (1 drop per nail)
Light wasn't the greatest that day, but I do feel you get a sense of this shade. I love it... color and formula. I'll keep my eye out for this brand (they do not ship to Canada), and once I find it, I'll probably add a few more to my stash.

Sephora Slip...

I think I'm back on my wagon once again... hopefully holding tight until November... but realistically I'll be happy to make it to July :)

Now this is a tiny slip, because only one product in this order is out of bounds, the other two I classify as needed, and the last one is a sample.

Arrived on Monday (May 30th):

Becca Jaclyn Hill Champagne Collection Eye Palette - the slip. Everyone is trying to get their hands on the face palette from this collection, but I wasn't interested. Because I already own Champagne Pop and  I barely use it, what in the world would I do with two plus Proscecco Pop? But the eye palette I just couldn't resist; even if there is a pretty high chance that my collection is full of similar colors. I just had to have it. Currently sold out online, both the face and eye palette will be available in Sephora stores on June 16th. You can find swatches of both online already... my will show up here eventually :)

Caudalie Vinosource Moisturizing Mattifying Fluid - A perfect summer moisturizer for my more often than not oily complexion. They changed the packaging, it used to look like this.

Living Proof Amp² Instant Texture Volumizer - I've lost count how many times I've repurchased this. Love the scent, love the product... haven't found anything else yet I like more.

Fresh Sugar Advanced Therapy - freebie. It's supposed to be "ultra-nourishing" while smoothing out my lip wrinkles :) I'd love it if it did :)
